Watching Movies

Lyman, R. 2002. Watching Movies: The Biggest Names in Cinema Talk About Films That Matter Most. New York: Times Books.

This book isn’t really a book, it’s a collection of interviews from the New York Times. If there were anyone who has the right to name drop, it’s the guy who conducted these interviews. He took the biggest names in cinema and got to simply watch a movie with them. Now that’s the dream job!

Ever wandered what Quentin Tarantino’s favourite movie is? Or what Michael Bay thought of West Side Story? Well you’ll find out that and so much more in this book.

This book is something that really inspires and motivates me, partly because interviewing such huge cinematic stars is incredible, but mostly because of the book’s style of writing. Watching Movies is written like a typical novel, it’s a work of journalism and as a journalism student this is the type of writing I aim for.
